Frank Body Express - O Coffee Body Scrub Review

This is Aaliyah with Skin.Edu, and this is part 3 of a miniseries that I’ll call “Is it Aaliyah Approved?” where I review body and skincare products.

Today I’m reviewing the Frank Body Express - O Coffee Body Scrub. To be honest, I don’t care for coffee scrubs and there’s a few reasons why.

First, coffee is extremely difficult to rinse off the skin, and creating extra sheering forces just to remove the coffee grinds from skin can cause irritation, redness, and potentially negatively affect the skin barrier. Second, it makes a mess in the shower; along with not being able to remove it easily from the skin, it becomes difficult to remove it from the shower and bath as well. Third, it is an alternative to sugar, but it’s not any better when considering sustainability - they both can be produced either unsustainably or sustainably.

I did appreciate that Frank Body took a different approach when it came to texture & formula. This body scrub is much different from other coffee scrubs I’ve experienced because it has a creamy consistency, whereas others are typically a jar of straight coffee grinds with a little oil.

I think it’s important to note the change in packaging for this Frank Body product because typically they sell their scrubs in a press - seal bag where you have to stick your hand in and scoop the product out. I’ve had bad experiences with this type of packaging from this brand where I’ve found mold growing inside the product only after three uses. So, having a spout and cap package I think will reduce the ability for bacteria and water to get inside and mold to grow.

You can find the product on Ulta.com for $20 for a 5 oz. bag: https://www.ulta.com/p/express-o-coffee-scrub-xlsImpprod17911239

So, is it “Aaliyah Approved”?

My review is based on these categories: scent (scent of product), texture (texture of product), quality (actual quality of the product, considering brand), and value (price of product for what it is, with these factors included), with an overall average score of the product to give a value to compare to other product reviews, and finally, answering the question: would I repurchase the product?

Here’s my takeaway:

Scent: 1 / 5, smelled like play do, not really strong coffee scent

Texture: 4 / 5 smooth, creamy, gentle

Quality: 4 / 5 good brand & ingredients

Value: 3 / 5

Overall: 3 / 5

Buy Again: No, I don’t like coffee scrubs, but it’s a good product from a good brand

Tree Hut Tahitian Vanilla Body Scrub Review

Tree Hut Tahitian Vanilla Body Scrub Review  This is Aaliyah with Skin.Edu, and this is part 4 of a miniseries that I’ll call “Is it Aaliyah Approved?” where I review body and skincare products. Today I’m reviewing the Tahitian Vanilla Body Scrub from the viral - worthy brand Tree Hut.  I was pretty disappointed with the scent of this product; I suppose I was expecting a little more of a sweetened vanilla scent, but the scent of this scrub was too overwhelming for me.  The scrub itself was okay and pretty gentle on my skin, but it didn’t leave my skin as soft and moisturized as I typically like from a body scrub. This product would be okay though for those who really prefer a long lasting fragrance.  You can find the product on Ulta.com for $9 for an 18 oz. jar: https://www.ulta.com/p/tahitian-vanilla-bean-shea-sugar-scrub-xlsImpprod18801211 .   So, is it “ Aaliyah Approved ”?
