Tree Hut Coconut Lime Body Scrub Review

Tree Hut Coconut Lime Body Scrub Review

This is Aaliyah with Skin.Edu, and this is part 1 of a miniseries where I review body and skincare products that I’ll call “Is it Aaliyah Approved?”.

Today I’m reviewing the Coconut Lime Body Scrub from the brand Tree Hut. Tree Hut is known for their super aesthetic body scrubs and scent varieties. I bought this from Ulta for about $8, which is pretty affordable for an 18 oz. jar. Typically, body scrubs come in sizes ranging from 8 oz. to 16 oz. depending on the brand - smaller than 8 oz. is pretty unusual.

The ingredients in this scrub aren’t the worst, but in my opinion, they’re not the best, either. The first ingredients are pretty much oils, sugar and shea butter, but one of the very first ingredients before those, is glycerin. Glycerin is a filler ingredient that’s used in cosmetics for it’s moisturizing properties and comes in a sticky, thick consistency. The reason this is sort of troubling is because it’s listed second to sucrose (sugar), which could mean that the majority of this formulation is glycerin. This isn’t a problem for the health of your skin, but it does mean that the other desirable ingredients that they promote as “key ingredients” like shea butter and coconut oil would be less present (but still there). When it comes to the price of the product, using a relatively inexpensive, yet effective ingredient like glycerin makes sense.

Most people rave over the texture of this scrub, and you’ll see multiple videos across Instagram and Tik Tok displaying different angles of the slime - like texture. I personally didn’t care for it, and found it to be sticky and thick, even when rubbing into my skin. As you’ll come to find out in future posts, I am not a fan of heavily fragranced products, and this (to me) is a heavily scented product, so I didn’t like the scent at all.

I didn’t find my skin to be super soft and moisturized afterwards, compared to other products I’ve used.

So, is it “Aaliyah Approved”?

My review is based on these categories: scent (scent of product), texture (texture of product), quality (actual quality of the product, considering brand), and value (price of product for what it is, with these factors included), with an overall average score of the product to give a value to compare to other product reviews, and finally, answering the question: would I repurchase the product?

Here’s my takeaway:

Scent: 1 / 5

Texture: 2 / 5

Quality: 2 / 5

Value: 5 / 5

Buy Again: No

Frank Body Express - O Coffee Body Scrub Review

This is Aaliyah with Skin.Edu, and this is part 3 of a miniseries that I’ll call “Is it Aaliyah Approved?” where I review body and skincare products. Today I’m reviewing the Frank Body Express - O Coffee Body Scrub. To be honest, I don’t care for coffee scrubs and there’s a few reasons why.  First, coffee is extremely difficult to rinse off the skin, and creating extra sheering forces just to remove the coffee grinds from skin can cause irritation, redness, and potentially negatively affect the skin barrier. Second, it makes a mess in the shower; along with not being able to remove it easily from the skin, it becomes difficult to remove it from the shower and bath as well. Third, it is an alternative to sugar, but it’s not any better when considering sustainability - they both can be produced either unsustainably or sustainably.  I did appreciate that Frank Body took a different approach when it came to texture & formula. This body scrub is much different from other coffee...

Tree Hut Tahitian Vanilla Body Scrub Review

Tree Hut Tahitian Vanilla Body Scrub Review  This is Aaliyah with Skin.Edu, and this is part 4 of a miniseries that I’ll call “Is it Aaliyah Approved?” where I review body and skincare products. Today I’m reviewing the Tahitian Vanilla Body Scrub from the viral - worthy brand Tree Hut.  I was pretty disappointed with the scent of this product; I suppose I was expecting a little more of a sweetened vanilla scent, but the scent of this scrub was too overwhelming for me.  The scrub itself was okay and pretty gentle on my skin, but it didn’t leave my skin as soft and moisturized as I typically like from a body scrub. This product would be okay though for those who really prefer a long lasting fragrance.  You can find the product on Ulta.com for $9 for an 18 oz. jar: https://www.ulta.com/p/tahitian-vanilla-bean-shea-sugar-scrub-xlsImpprod18801211 .   So, is it “ Aaliyah Approved ”?
